Yogis Throughout the World Cross the Borders of their Mats to Raise Consciousness and Funds for Important Causes.

BALI - (September 10, 2009) - On September 19 and 20 the Global Mala Yoga for Peace Project, whose purpose is to unite the global yoga community, will implement events throughout the world in honor of the United Nations International Day of Peace. The Global Mala Project Bali on Saturday, September 19, is one of the featured events in Southeast Asia taking place in the spiritual center of Ubud. Gathering over 25 yoga, meditation and qi gong teachers from all over the island including local and international musicians will offering live music & kirtan. Forming a "mala around the earth" through collective practices based upon the sacred cycle of 108, the mission of the Global Mala Project is to raise both funds and consciousness for some of the most pressing issues facing the world today. Global Mala Yoga for Peace Project is a fea- tured event during National Yoga Month 09.2009. The Global Mala Project Bali will raise funds for 2 local children' s charities, Yayasan WINS project and Breath of Hope foundation.

Hundreds of yogis in Bali will join together at the Yoga Barn in Ubud on September 19 from 8 to 11 am, coming together to promote peace through practicing 108 sun salutations, 18 minutes of meditation and qi gong and 27 minutes of kirtan joining the worldwide GMP peace movement. GMP Bali will also offer a kids mini yoga mala (18 rounds of sun salutations) with kids games and acroyoga. Taking its name from the sacred prayer beads called "mala" used in India and Tibet as meditation guides, the Global Mala Project will bene?t the Yoga Health Foundation and numerous other charities and projects being supported by local community leaders. Composed of 108 beads, the mala is symbolic of the prayer for peace, hope and charity the Global Mala Project will be sending to the world.

Join a worldwide Peace Movement for the Global Mala Project! On Saturday, September 19th at the Yoga Barn in Ubud, the Bali yoga, meditation and music community will gather for a day of yoga, meditation and qi gong practices to bring awareness and raise consciousness for global peace honoring the United Nations International Day of Peace. Featuring over 25 teachers and musicians from all over the island of Bali leading 108 Sun Salutations (Yoga Mala), 18 minutes of meditation, 18 minutes of Qi Gong, 27 minutes of kirtan & live music plus a special Kids Mini Yoga Mala, AcroYoga and kids games. The Ubud Writers & Readers Festival is presenting 3 lively playreadings at Yoga Barn on Oct. 8, 9 & 10. A cast of stars from Australia and Indonesia will perform these rehearsed readings written by 3 of the world's great playwrights, Wole Soyinka, Cok Sawitri and Marco Calvani.

Two plays in English ( Oct. 8 & 10) "The Trials of Brother Jero" a delightfully funny farce, and "The City Beneath", a tense and exciting drama and one in Indonesian by Indonesia's foremost playwright, Cok Sawitri, and Teater Tulus Ngayah (Oct. 9) All at 6p.m. sharp. Entry is FREE. The plays are not suitable for under 15s.
